Will David Ragan be at Roush next year?
David Ragan’s performance on the track has improved vastly this year but I think he’s done. After all the dismal seasons he’s had I can’t see UPS sticking around with him. I see Trevor Bayne in the #6 car next season. He’s a winner and I think he has a little bit of star power in him. Ragan’s had plenty of chances and Roush would’ve fired him earlier (reportedly) just so Kahne could still be in a Ford.

Keep in mind Trevor Bayne is also a free agent. Assuming Roush locks up Carl Edwards, the next best free agent is Clint Bowyer with Juan Pablo Montoya also in the mix. I don’t see JPM moving so Bowyer’s landing spot is what will ultimately solve the rest of the puzzle for Ragan and the others.

If I was in Jack’s shoes, I’d rather have Ragan in the #6 car than Bayne. Sorry but I’m not sold on Trevor yet.

Jack Rousch has stuck it out and taken the beating with Ragan this long, no need to turn back now. He is actually starting to show some signs of life on the track. I ultimately think Ragan’s fate is in his own hands, with how he finishes out the season. I’m not totally sold on Bayne yet however. That move seems like he would be starting over, thus several more years of growing pains with a young driver whom I’m not overly impressed with..
Where does Mark Martin land?

I think Roush has to let him go. David Ragan has had plenty of chances to produce. Even when he has a good day he makes boneheaded mistakes. In 2009 he had 2 top top tens. In 2010 he had 3 top tens. This season he has four but UPS is a mega sponsor and he simply doesn’t produce.
UPS wants somebody competitive and Ragan certainly doesn’t fit that description.

I’m not really sold that Edwards will be at RFR. If he wins the 2011 championship, he can nearly write his own check. If Bowyer leaves RCR like most think he will, Childress would probably come off of the wallet BIG TIME to pair up Carl and Harvick.. And let’s keep in mind, even if Clint were to stay at RCR, they still have a fourth car available anyway, although that spot very well could be being held for Austin Dillon. As far as Bayne goes, I think Ricky Stenhouse, Jr is by far the stronger driver of the two, and he may land at RFR before Bayne does. I’ve heard Vickers is unhappy at RBR, so they may be empty handed going into 2012, so they may be in the market, although I get the feeling they are going to expedite Cole Whitt’s emergence into Cup, that kid is tearing up the truck series.
